Deciding on Grad School in Social Work and Choosing BUSSW
I developed an interest in macro social work through my previous work in psychiatric research as a financial & program manager. I was involved in grants management as well as the development of health-focused psychological interventions for inpatient populations. The experience sparked my interest in the macro-level aspects of program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
I chose the BU School of Social Work for its strong emphasis on research, its Human Services Management Certificate program, and the caliber of its macro department, three of its most unique attributes. Specifically, I am interested in developing life skills programs for emerging adults in rural, underserved populations. I was raised in a rural area and want others to experience the incredible talents and often untapped potential of this demographic.
