Faculty Member, Students to Present on Youth Mentoring

Assistant Professor Renee Spencer will be a panelist for The Children’s Advocacy Center of Suffolk County’s Seminar Series on Empowerment through Mentoring. The program is being held March 13, 2008, from 9:30 to 11 a.m., at Northeastern University. Elizabeth Mangan, a SSW student intern at the Center, will serve as moderator.

This panel will provide information on the latest research in the field of mentoring, information concerning the training of mentors and program development, and highlight organizations that work with youth of different ages, cultures, and skill levels. The panel will demonstrate the unique and positive impact mentoring can have on vulnerable youth. The poster presentation, "Parents’ Perspectives on Youth Mentoring Relationships," will be made at the Society for Research on Adolescence Biennial Meeting in Chicago, March 6 to 9.
