3/25: Prof. Sprague Martinez Centers Black Women & Their Health in Sisters with Superpowers Panel

In honor of Women’s History Month, the entertainment and media company Rolling Out is hosting a free two-day conference called Sisters with Superpowers // Peace & Purpose to celebrate powerful women in business, culture, and community.
Linda Sprague Martinez, an associate professor at BU School of Social Work, joins the conference as one of three featured guests in the virtual panel conversation “Centering Black Women and their Comprehensive Health.” Alongside fellow panelists Wendasha Hall and LaDeia Joyce, Sprague Martinez will discuss the health inequities that impact Black women and approaches to enhancing positive relationships with oneself, one’s partners, and one’s support system.
Prof. Sprague Martinez is an expert in community-driven approaches to health promotion, and the former chair of the macro practice department at BUSSW. A nationally renowned researcher, she is widely published in top academic journals such as Health Affairs and the American Journal of Public Health, and has appeared in media publications including The Washington Post and The Boston Globe.
