Deciding on Grad School in Social Work and Choosing BUSSW

Growing up, I had always wanted to become a therapist, a safe person for people to turn to with their thoughts and feelings. I ultimately chose to pursue social work because of its dedication to social justice, feminism, and individual empowerment. I am very interested in trauma work, especially for survivors of sexual and relational violence in a health care setting.

I ended up only applying to one school, because I wanted to stay in the Boston area, and I loved BU’s certification program as well as its work on health equity with the school of public health.
