Luz Marilis López to Join BU-Wide Panel for “Forum on Family Separation”

Luz Marilis López, clinical professor and associate director of the Dual Degree Program in Social Work & Public Health at Boston University School of Social Work, joins a BU-wide panel for “Forum on Family Separation,” an in-depth discussion about the impact on children and communities involved in the federal separation of families.

BU Wheelock’s committee on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion hosts the event which also features experts from Boston University’s School of Law, School of Public Health and Wheelock who will weigh in on the many dimensions and impacts of the policy.

Moderator Dr. Michelle Porche, clinical associate professor of Applied Human Development at BU Wheelock, and her team of students will provide a general overview of the harm of this policy, based on the results of a project with Boston Medical Center’s Dr. Lisa Fortuna to write amicus briefs for court challenges. Panelists will be asked to respond through the lens of their discipline. A reception will follow.
