Prof. Ruth Paris Leads Virtual Colloquium on Parenting & Substance Use

BUSSW’s Chair of Clinical Practice Ruth Paris led an online colloquium on April 17, 2020 titled “Parenting, substance use disorders and young children: challenges, opportunities and intervention.”

Paris, an associate professor, is a recognized expert in trauma and infant and early childhood mental health with a focus on families struggling with substance and opioid use disorders. Paris is the principal investigator for Project BRIGHT (Building Resilience Through Intervention: Growing Healthier Together), a dyadic therapeutic parenting intervention offered within substance use treatment programs.

The colloquium was hosted by The University of Maine School of Social Work’s Professional Opioid Workforce Response (POWR) Program via Zoom.
