Sarah Lange (SSW ’93) Joins BU Alumni Council
Sarah Lange (SSW’ 93) has been selected as a member of the BU Alumni Council, an advisory and working group of 40 alumni volunteer leaders from around the world, dedicated to engaging and enhancing alumni connections with Boston University, and with one another.
Lange’s term begins immediately, and she will serve on BUAC’s College and School Relations Committee. In this role, she will evaluate relationships between college- or school-based alumni relations, serve as a liaison with alumni groups, and assess ongoing learning opportunities for alumni. “It will be a great way to represent the School of Social Work in a larger environment,” Lange says. “I’m excited about what is going on at the School and I want to share that excitement. We still have one of the highest percentages of giving among our alumni…that speaks volumes of SSW. I want to help other schools achieve those kinds of goals too.”
Alumni Council Immediate Past President Steve Karbank writes that BU is “in the midst of a wonderful renaissance…the quality of the students and faculty are impressive and the campus looks better than ever. Alumni who return to the campus feel the excitement and pride of the BU community.” He strongly feels that Lange will find that joining and working with the BU Alumni Council will provide her with the opportunity to help shape the future of Boston University.
Lange is the principal of Legacy Consulting, and has been serving the nonprofit sector since 1989. She provides consulting to organizations of various sizes across New England to help them fulfill their strategic goals, and implement the best practices to truly be “the best they can be.” She also is former President of the BUSSW Alumni Association, a recipient of the Alumni Association’s Hubie Jones Urban Practice Award, and sponsor of The Sarah Lange Prize for Social Change, an annual award to a graduating Macro Practice student.
