We, the Editors and Publisher of the International Journal of Nanomedicine are retracting the published article.

A third party raised concerns regarding repeated sections of images in figure 3 that should represent different experimental conditions, as well as two images in figure 1F which are mirrored. The authors then contacted the journal to raise significant concerns about the reliability of the conclusions presented in the article.

Following an investigation, the Editor and Publisher agree with the concerns raised. Therefore, all parties have agreed to retract the article to ensure correction of the scholarly record.

We have been informed in our decision-making by our editorial policies and the COPE guidelines.

The retracted article will remain online to maintain the scholarly record, but it will be digitally watermarked on each page as “Retracted”.
