We, the Editors and Publisher of the journal International Journal of Nanomedicine, are retracting the published article.

Since publication, a third party has raised concerns about duplicated regions of images in figures 3 and 6 of the article. Following these concerns being raised, the authors contacted the journal requesting a correction to the figures. However, following an investigation, the Editor and Publisher do not believe the concerns have been addressed, and as verifying the validity of the published work is core to the integrity of the scholarly record, we are therefore retracting the article. All authors listed in this publication have been informed. The authors agree with the retraction.

We have been informed in our decision-making by our editorial policies and the COPE guidelines.

The retracted article will remain online to maintain the scholarly record, but it will be digitally watermarked on each page as “Retracted”.
