Election Day, Guidance for Supervisors
October 14, 2020
Dear Colleagues,
We are approaching one of the most important elections in American history, one that will determine our direction and leadership during a time of national emergency and world disruption. It is critically important that all of us take the opportunity to vote. Although I expect that many of us have voted by mail—the majority of our students must do so because they are not from Massachusetts—we must give all those who have not yet voted the time to do so.
Because of the public health restrictions caused by COVID-19, in-person voting may take longer than has been the norm. Accordingly, I am asking all supervisors to give staff the adequate time off, without any use of vacation time, so that they may cast their votes.
Staff should communicate with their supervisors to arrange the needed time in the hope that we can have minimal disruption of services to our students and faculty.
Voting is a right of all Americans. When we look back on this election, we all will want to say that our voices were heard.
Please vote.
Sincerely,
Robert A. Brown
President
