Drone Footage Captures Deserted Boston University Campus During Coronavirus Pandemic

On Thursday, April 23, 2020, a beautiful spring day when Boston University’s Charles River Campus would normally have been buzzing—with jam-packed sidewalks and bike lanes, overflowing buses and MBTA trolleys, and energized labs and [...]classrooms—it was an alternate universe. This drone video, shot from 10:30 am to 7:30 pm that day from as high as 250 feet, shows an eerily quiet landscape, devoid of nearly any human interaction, the 4k drone footage vividly capturing the impact of the historic coronavirus pandemic and how it transformed the BU campus.

This was the third time BU Productions worked with an external vendor to capture aerial footage of the Boston University campus with a drone. The drone video footage and photography was shot by Above Summit Aerial + Video Production using a DJI Inspire 2 drone with an X7 camera under a special FAA Authorization for Logan Class Bravo Airspace. The video was edited by Chris Palmer for BU Productions.
