In the wake of her provocative book, prominent journalist Hanna Rosin offers up her "end of men" thesis to a two-day interdisciplinary conference held at BU Law in October. Her keynote address outlines the proposition that women have made such [...]remarkable progress in all domains—and men have suffered such declines and reversals—that women are effectively surpassing men and becoming the dominant sex. Ralph Banks, author of Is Marriage for White People?, and Michael Kimmel, noted sociologist and spokesperson for The National Organization For Men Against Sexism, help incite and deepen the discussion with responses to Rosin's address.

BU Law students, faculty and staff, as well as family and friends braved the cold for the 2011 5K Ambulance Chase Fun Run/Walk.
Participants put the chilly temperatures aside as they raced from the front of the Law tower down [...]Bay State road before crossing over to run along the esplanade. This community-building event has taken place for the past four years, and it continues to be a success each year with more and more participants.

Associate Professor Khiara M. Bridges speaks fluent Spanish and basic Arabic, has reported for the Miami Herald, is an active professional ballet dancer, and has recently published a book that shines new light on the politics of health care for the [...]poor. In addition to her Columbia Law School J.D., she has a Ph.D. in anthropology from Columbia and holds dual appointments as Associate Professor of Law and Associate Professor of Anthropology at BU.

More black men are in prison today than are in college. The underperformance of African-American males in elementary and secondary schools is a persistent crisis. Sharokky Hollie, founder of the California-based Center for Culturally Responsive [...]Teaching and Learning, says part of the problem is that many schools don't validate the home culture of black male students. Hollie has developed teaching methods that are more culturally and linguistically responsive, allowing for that crucial initial engagement between teacher and student. Here, he discusses those approaches, demonstrates training exercises, and explores the meaning of culture versus race.

Moderator Kevin Merida, editor of ESPN’s The Undefeated website led the hour-long provocative discussion at Boston University’s Play It Forward sports summit held at the Agganis Arena, Friday, April 14th, the eve of Boston Marathon weekend.
