BU Today Sessions: The Alrighters - "Soda Jerk / Spin the Platter"

The Alrighters are not your typical band. There are no guitars, and an unusually large percentage of their songs are about food. Described by singer Andrew Galante as “a ’50s R&B meets punk” band, the Alrighters feature saxophonist [...]Kim Kendicken, upright bassist Zeke Wheeler, and drummer Matt Schlaikjer.

When the lights go down and the sun rises, Galante, a senior production assistant at BU’s Creative Services, reverts from bombastic, dancing front man to a more subdued person working on bulletins in a cubicle. “It’s a great combo for me,” he says. “I can have a hobby and a job at the same time.”
