Donna J. Astion, MD, MPH, a graduate of the Sargent College class of 1982, and a graduate of New York’s Mount Sinai School of Medicine (now the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai), delivered the Sargent College commencement address on May 18, [...]2025. Dr. Astion has had a successful career in orthopedics and found community and purpose at Sargent. She will address undergraduate and graduate students from the Sargent Class of 2025 earning degrees in health disciplines including health science, human physiology, nutrition, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech, language & hearing sciences.
Dr. Astion completed her orthopedic residency at University Hospitals of Cleveland at Case Medical Center, a foot and ankle fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery and Roosevelt Hospital and holds a master’s in public health from Columbia University. As a foot and ankle specialist, Dr. Astion has served communities in New York and Connecticut, continuing her work with dancers and other athletes. She specializes in conservative treatment of the foot and ankle and serves on the Board of Trustees of a New York hospital and continues to serve on the Dean’s Advisory Board at Sargent College.
