Professor Larry Sulak won the 2018 American Physical Society prize, the highest US award in the field.

Larry Sulak has won this year’s top US prize in the field of experimental particle physics. Sulak, the David M. Myers Distinguished Professor and CAS chair emeritus of physics, was recently awarded the American Physical Society (APS) 2018 W.K.H. Panofsky Prize for his work on massive particle detectors and oscillating neutrinos. Sulak called receiving the prestigious award “his highest dream.” The annual prize is given “for novel contributions to detection techniques, including [Sulak’s] pioneering developments for massive water Cherenkov detectors that led to major advances in nucleon decay and neutrino oscillation,” according to the APS prize citation.
