From anti-racism work to pandemic recovery efforts, several BU donors have bolstered fundraising for a range of important causes. One of the most generous gifts for the fiscal year 2021 comes from the estate of Laurence A. Bloom (DGE’66, CAS’68) in the amount of about $8.25 million. The contribution allowed the University to establish new scholarships and fellowships, as well as an endowed professorship in economics, honoring Bloom’s field of study at BU and life’s work.
Additionally, the new Center for Anti-Racist Research received multiple seven-figure donations. Contributions of all sizes also benefited initiatives to support students and families through the pandemic with emergent need funds and to augment financial aid at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
