Arts & Sciences Today

New faculty, programs, and centers reflect CAS’ renewed focus on the environment, equity, data, and the humanities

The CAS strategic plan, finalized in 2021, is chock-full of goals, priorities, and initiatives. But at its heart are four guiding themes:

One Planet—One Health
Social Justice & Ethics
Computation, Data and Arts & Sciences—Forefront of Data Science
The Human Dimension

College of Arts & Sciences, 150 years, 1873-2023While the broader strategic plan lays out all of the specifics, these themes provide a vision for an interdisciplinary approach to addressing global challenges. Two years into the decade-long plan, the college can already celebrate a number of early accomplishments inspired by these ideals. Here’s an introduction to some of the new faculty, scholars, centers, and programs shaping CAS today.
