The Boston University College of Arts & Sciences celebrated a milestone 150 years as a college with a gala luncheon during Alumni Weekend on September 23.
Bonnie Feld (CAS’73), chair of the Dean’s Advisory Board, welcomed more than 100 guests to the luncheon. Dean Stan Sclaroff delivered opening remarks on the past, present, and future of the college, and Professor of English and Creative Writing Karl Kirchwey read two of his poems.
Jonathan Hodge (CAS’97 `99), vice-chair of the Dean’s Advisory Board, presented awards to four Distinguished Alumni Awardees, Deirdre Giblin (CAS’90), Christine Kannler (CAS’96), Prerna Mukharya (GRS’09), and Leslie Sills (CAS’69), who were introduced by students in the College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences. Giblin and Sills also received Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Access, Leadership (I.D.E.A.L) awards.
The celebration closed with the singing of “Clarissima,” composed and written by Brenton C. Patterson (CAS 1911) and Dean Ralph W. Taylor (CAS 1911), and a toast to the future of the college from Feld.
