Looking for a Scholarly Community? Join a CISS-Affiliate Research Workshop

Are you looking for a community of like-minded scholars to share your ideas? Are you seeking a research collaborator who brings a new lens or methodological skill to your project? Join a Center or Center-affiliated working group! The Center will provide a virtual and (coming soon…) physical space for faculty, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows to present their research, workshop new ideas, forge collaborations, and learn from scholars who share their research interests.  Visit our Workshops page to find a group that is best for you, or suggest a group of your own. Currenet opportunities include:

  •  Ethnographic Cafe. a place for ethnographers to meet across disciplines, generations, and countries. Scholars gather to talk about all things ethnographic, from history, design, and method to analysis, writing and dissemination.
  • Precarity Lab. an intellectual community for discussing and developing research projects concerning varieties of precarity in markets, labor, and work.
  • Quantitative Analysis Workshop, brings together students and faculty working with or hoping to learn about new quantitative methods.
  • Boston-Area Health Scholars welcomes faculty, postdocs, and graduate students from throughout the greater Boston area to discuss their latest research on health, medicine, and health care. The group also hold regular professional development panels, practice job talks, and more.
  • Boston-Area Migration Studies Workshop fosters a community of scholars, builds networks and promotes social science studies of international migration from a range of methodologies and perspectives.
  • Environment and Sustainability (in formation… details to follow).
