Goldman School of Dental Medicine – Construction Update – 4/6/18
During the week of April 9:
- We will continue trucking operations associated with topsoil removal that began this week to prepare for foundation work.
- Drilling of the first foundation piling will begin in the area between the former cafeteria and the loading dock of the building in preparation for the new building foundations. This piling will be load-tested prior to the continuation of the remaining foundation pilings.
- Installation of the handicap lift will continue into next week. Once installation is completed, testing and state inspection will follow before the lift is officially available for public use. This is an important milestone, as it will allow the existing handicap ramp to be demolished to clear the way for the new addition’s footprint.
- Investigation of the routing of the building’s existing utilities will continue, and utilities presently serving the former cafeteria will be disconnected to prepare for demolition in the coming weeks.
- “Light demolition” of the cafeteria will begin and will consist of removing finishes, such as ceiling tiles, casework, and the like.
As a reminder to all, please be aware of all directional signage, as pedestrian travel paths may be altered at both the interior and exterior of the building. Your safety is imperative!
