Continuing Education Participants Cruise & Learn in Alaska

Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine (BUGSDM) Division of Continuing Education hosted a week-long continuing education program aboard the Norwegian Pearl as it traveled along Alaska’s coast.

The 146 participants, speakers, and their guests cruised through Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve and the Inside Passage and visited the ports of Seattle, Washington; Juneau, Alaska; Skagway, Alaska; Ketchikan, Alaska; and Victoria, British Columbia. While the ship was at sea the participants enjoyed lectures by three members of the BUGSDM faculty. Clinical Professor and Director of both the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program (AEGD) and the Dental Health Center Dr. John Cassis presented a lecture titled, Predictable Esthetics. Professor, Director, and Chair of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology Dr. Sadru Kabani presented a lecture titled, Early Detection of Oral Cancer. Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry Dr. Christopher Hughes presented a lecture titled, Pediatric Dentistry: New Approaches to Old Problems.

The Division of Continuing Education has hosted several successful Cruise & Learn programs over the last few years, allowing participants to learn about the latest advances in the dental field, while spending time with family and friends.

"This year’s Cruise & Learn program to Alaska was a wonderful success and I am thankful to everyone who assisted me in organizing it," said Clinical Professor and Director of the Division of Continuing Education and Center for Implantology Dr. Zhimon Jacobson. "The program is a great way for people across the country to experience what the BUGSDM Division of Continuing Education has to offer in a relaxing and fun setting."
