From Classroom to Clinic: Students Complete Training and Begin Treatment

Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine (BUGSDM) third-year DMD students prepared for work in the clinic by participating in an orientation during the week of August 25. The orientation featured five stations for students to visit, including: finance, mentor’s office, front desk, central sterilization, and mechanical chair operation.
The orientation wrapped up with a luncheon hosted by ASDA and sponsored by Crest. At the start of the luncheon, newly appointed Dean Jeffrey Hutter addressed the group.
"You have accomplished a great deal during the didactic portion of your dental education and I want to commend each of as you begin your clinical training," said Dean Hutter. "I encourage you to take full advantage of Dr. Guarente and his colleagues during your clinical training. They are the best and the brightest and importantly, they have chosen to give back to the profession by training new generations of dentists."
Following Dean Hutter’s address, Wendy Bebey, a sales representative from Crest, a division of Procter and Gamble, taught students how to order products at student prices using their website and handed out complimentary samples.
"Your goal should be to help your patients improve and maintain oral health," said Bebey. "Before you can do anything to work towards this goal you have to make sure your patients are compliant with their home care. Our goal at Procter and Gamble is to be your partner in this process."
