Drs. Mehra and Murad Published in Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine (BUGSDM) Associate Professor and Director of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Boston Medical Center Dr. Pushkar Mehra and alum Haitham Murad DMD 01,OMFS 07 published an article titled, "Internal Fixation of Mandibular Angle Fractures: A Comparison of 2 Techniques,” in the November issue of the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

This article reported on findings of a study performed in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery on patients with isolated mandibular angle fractures from 1996 to 2006. The study involved comparison of the treatment of jaw fractures with intraoral and extraoral access techniques while following a strict management protocol. Highly successful treatment results were shown with both techniques as well as lower failure rates than previously reported in the medical and dental literature for this sub-group of patients. This research was also presented at the Annual Scientific Conference and Exhibition of the American College of Maxillofacial Surgeons held in Kansas City, Missouri from May 4 – 7, 2008, and was awarded 3rd prize.
