CHP Faculty Members Get Busy in June

Community Health programs (CHP) faculty and staff sure have been busy! CHP dentists Drs. Lina Benslimane, Martha Neely, and Martin Ugarte-Chavez headed out to several events in June to spread the word about good oral health to the local community.
Some of their stops included:
Father-Friendly BBQ: Clinical InstructorCindy Cadoret and Oral Health Educator Krissie Gibbs joined Drs. Benslimane and Ugarte-Chavez at this event, held on June 15. The event featured pony rides, Zumba, yoga, a magician, and face painting. CHP volunteers provided oral health screenings, information, and demonstrated correct brushing techniques using Doogie.
MGH Chelsea 14th Annual Family Summer Safety Fair: Held at the MGH Chelsea Healthcare Center, this is an annual summer kick-off celebration which focuses on keeping children safe during the summer months. Held on June 18, the event featured free bicycle safety checks and bike helmets for kids. CHP faculty highlighted information on the use of mouth guards and the importance of dental visits, and invited Chelsea children to come to the Chelsea School Dental Center for free oral health services. Approximately 200 people attended this popular and fun event.
10th Peace in the Family Day: Held at Harry Della Russo Memorial Stadium in Revere on June 25, this event focused on promoting peace in the family for residents of Revere, Chelsea, and neighboring communities. About 300 people attended and this was the first time that GSDM volunteers have participated. The CHP faculty set up a table where they distributed toothbrushes, toothpaste, educational handouts, and stickers related to oral health.
