A Joyful 99th Annual BU Night at the Pops

Boston popsOn the evening of Saturday, May 18, 2013, members of the Boston University community gathered at Symphony Hall for the 99th annual BU Night at the Pops. Among them, Dean and Mrs. Jeffrey Hutter joined 50 graduates, family, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine for an evening of auditory enjoyment.

Concert attendees were treated to a remarkable cello performance by BU College of Fine Arts doctoral student Yoonhee Ko.

The program featured Broadway stars Jodi Benson, Doug LaBrecque, and Donna McKechnie, who paid tribute to the influential and award-winning composer Marvin Hamlisch. The musicians performed from an array of Hamlisch’s scores from Broadway shows “A Chorus Line” and “They’re Playing Our Song” to Oscar-winning score and song for the “The Way We Were.”

In a joyful close to the performance, scarlet and white balloons fell from the ceiling as BU mascot Rhett danced up the center aisle of the hall in celebration of a wonderful evening for Boston University.
