GSDM Well Represented at AADR Annual Meeting & Exhibition

The American Association for Dental Research (AADR) Annual Meeting & Exhibition took place in Los Angeles, California, from March 16 to 19, 2016. Dozens of faculty, staff, and students from Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) participated in and presented at the conference. The AADR Annual Meeting & Exhibition attracts thousands of investigators from across the world and consists of four days of workshops, symposia, oral and poster sessions, keynote speakers, and an exhibition.
GSDM researchers were heavily involved in the organization and presentation of many of the sessions at AADR. Faculty presented at three of the conference’s symposia, including the “Oral Epidemiology Forum” and “Improving Health through Social Networking Analysis, a Systems Science Method.” Students and researchers presented 21 posters and nine oral presentations, as well as two hands-on workshops. A complete list of all GSDM participants in this year’s event can be found on the Research website.
The School also had a presence in the Exhibition Hall. The GSDM booth was staffed by members of the Office of Research, showcasing both Boston University’s graduate programs and current research at the school. Prospective students and dental researchers alike visited the booth to learn more about GSDM’s robust research opportunities, academic programs, and events.
GSDM hosted a Boston University Reception at AADR in the Platinum Ballroom of the Marriott Hotel. The event was hosted by Dean Jeffrey W. Hutter and Associate Dean for Research Dr. Maria Kukuruzinska. Held on Thursday evening, the reception attracted both students and faculty from Boston University, as well as researchers and members of the leadership of other dental schools across the country.
Students at GSDM were recognized by AADR in multiple ways for their outstanding work. GSDM’s Student Research Group received the National Student Research Group (NSRG) award for the “most new AADR student members in 2015-2016.” The Pre-doctoral Research Program was also recognized by the AADR Student Research Day program. Additionally, Minh Zu AS 17, received an AADR Student Research Fellowship, which offers a stipend for student research.
“I am delighted to see GSDM so well represented at the AADR Annual Meeting & Exhibition,” said Dean Hutter. “GSDM’s high profile is a testament to the School’s commitment to research, and I am very proud of our students, faculty, and staff that work to uphold this commitment.”
