Faculty Council Election Winners Announced

Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine (BUGSDM) Professor and Director of Predoctoral Restorative Dentistry Dr. Celeste Kong and Clinical Associate Professor Dr. Ronni Schnell were elected as BUGSDM representatives to the Faculty Council. In this role, their responsibility is to convey to the Faculty Council the views of BUGSDM and to report back to BUGSDM on Faculty Council activities.

Both Drs. Kong and Schnell were interested in being part of the Faculty Council because they feel a strong need to uphold BUGSDM’s relationship with the larger university.

"Understanding, building alliances, and sustaining our relationship with the University is the foundation that Dr. Brown began to build with the theme of ‘One BU’," said Dr. Schnell. "BUGSDM plays an important role in supporting this culture not only in our collaborations with the larger university but also in our work within the community both locally and internationally. Faculty Council represents an important opportunity for faculty connection and contribution."

Dr. Kong added, "In addition to electing representatives to the Faculty Council, BUGSDM has established the Faculty Forum, which will provide an excellent venue for discussion of Faculty Council matters to BUGSDM faculty. In previous years we did not have this so it was difficult for Council representatives to communicate with the faculty at large in the dental school."

Both Drs. Kong and Schnell look forward to representing BUGSDM on the Council for the next two years.
