DMD Students Explore the Field of Prosthodontics

On December 5, three Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine (BUGSDM) students, Joseph Ayitey-Adjin DMD 09, Kyle Beffa DMD 09, and Talia Schechter DMD 09 attended the 54th Annual Fall Scientific Meeting of the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics (GNYAP).

BUGSDM Professor and Chair of the Department of Restorative Sciences and Biomaterials Dr. Dan Nathanson is a member of GNYAP’s Education Committee, which annually identifies fourth-year DMD students from various schools in New England who show promise in the field of prosthodontics. These students are invited free of charge to the annual meeting. This year with the help of BUGSDM Professor and Director of Predoctoral Restorative Dentistry Dr. Celeste Kong, Dr. Nathanson and the Education Committee identified Ayitey-Adjin, Beffa, and Schechter for this honor. Dr. Nathanson was also able to secure a $250 travel stipend for each student from the Prosthodontics Alumni Fund.

"All three BUGSDM students accepted our offer to attend the meeting and I believe they found it to be a rewarding experience," said Dr. Nathanson. "They are now showing an interest in specializing in the field."
