GSDM Retirees and Faculty Honored for 25 Years of Service at Dinner

Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) faculty and staff members who have completed 25 years of service or recently retired were honored at a celebratory dinner on Thursday, March 19. The dinner recognized Clinical Associate Professor of General Dentistry Dr. Nargess Ashayeri, Administrative Officer in the Office of Clinical Services Linda Green, Clinical Assistant Professor of General Dentistry Dr. Frederick Hains, Clinical Associate Professor in the Postdoctoral Prosthodontic Clinic Dr. Leonard Mark, Associate Professor of General Dentistry and Faculty Liaison to the Advanced Standing Program Dr. Janet Peters, and Clinical Assistant Professor of the Mentorship Program Dr. Richard Rosen for dedicating 25 years of service to Boston University.
Also honored were recent retirees, including former Director of APEX and Extramural Programs as well as the Career Resource Center Ms. Madalyn Mann, Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Dr. Donald Booth, and Dental Equipment Technician Bill Dixon. All three had served GSDM for greater than 30 years and left for retirement within the last year.
Ms. Mann, who traveled from Florida to Boston for the event was one of five Boston University retirees in attendance to be recognized by Boston University President Robert Brown.
"Madalyn Mann – Madi to her friends – retired from the Dental School last summer and moved to her home state of Florida," said President Brown. "All of her work at the Goldman School was directed at getting students out beyond the walls of the School to learn about the dental profession, how it works in the community, and in the process to serve the community. Even though she retired, Madi came back to Boston in January to run the Dental Career Network booth at the Yankee Dental Congress and she has remained actively involved with the School in other ways." President Brown continued, "Thank you, Madi, for your continuing work with BU, and for all that you’ve done for the School, for its students, and for the community."
"The Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine would not be what it is today without the efforts of everyone honored at this dinner," said Dean Jeffrey Hutter. "For those who have retired we miss you, but continue to wish you an enjoyable and well-deserved retirement. For those who continue to serve GSDM, we thank you for the guidance you have provided to others within the School and the hard work you continue to provide on a daily basis. We are happy to have been a part of your lives and careers for the last 25 years."
