DMD Students Partner With Moose to Promote Oral Health in Maine

On February 27, Dustin Wilde DMD 10, Michael Visser DMD 10, Cyrus Lawson DMD 10, and Bing Wan DMD 10 traveled to Bridgton, Maine to volunteer at the Bridgton Dental Health Fair.

Under the guidance of Dr. Donald Dennison, a dentist in Bridgton for 30 years, the students had two roles at the fair. The first was to gauge the need and anticipated use for a dental clinic in the town and the second was to help kids better understand oral health.

“Determining the dental needs of area residents is extremely important,” said Dr. Dennison in a statement released by fair organizers. “Our goal is to establish a community based dental clinic open to everyone regardless of their income.”

On hand to help the DMD students, was local hero Bruce the Moose.

"Bruce the Moose is from a town next to Bridgton, Maine," explained Lawson. "He has been all over the world for different kids events and retired a few years ago, but came out of retirement for this event. The kids loved him."
