Alums Gather in New Bedford

Alums from the southern coast of Massachusetts and Rhode Island gathered at the Waterfront Grill at Homer’s Wharf in New Bedford, Massachusetts on September 24 for a reception.

Twenty-seven alums and their guests turned out for the event which was organized by Roger Lacoste ENDO 75, Sue Camacho DPH 81, DMD 90, and GSDM Alumni Board President Tina Valades DMD 84.

Dean Jeffrey W. Hutter and Shadi Daher DMD 90, OMFS 94 greeted the guests. Dr. Daher said, “It’s wonderful to see you all here today and I encourage you all to attend the upcoming alumni weekend activities in Boston.”

Dr. Daher was also recently elected BU Alumni Council President and as such, he talked to the attendees about the added emphasis, appreciation, and support of all alumni and their activities at a University-wide level.

Dean Hutter briefed guests on a variety of topics including: implementation of the Applied Strategic Plan, SmithGroup and the GSDK Space Use and Facility Master Plan, Dean’s Council on Ethics & Professionalism, communications to the alumni, University & GSDM Capital Fundraising Campaign, plans for the 50th Anniversary Celebration of GSDM, and the upcoming Alumni/Reunion Weekend.

Following the reception Dr. Lacoste arrangeda tasty tapas dinner for the attendees.
