Mahesh Sadhnani DMD 12 Recognized at ADA Meeting

As the winner of this year’s ADA/Dentsply Student Research Award Mahesh Sadhnani DMD 12 was invited to present his research as part of the Student Clinicians – American Dental Association (SCADA) program held at the 2011 American Dental Association (ADA) Annual Session, October 10-13, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
His presentation titled, "Oral Health Care Disparities and Access to Care Among Older Adults," was completed under the guidance and mentorship of Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives Dr. Paula K. Friedman.
Sadhnani said, “My presentation was aimed at outlining the issue of lack of access to good dental care among the ever increasing geriatric population. Dr. Friedman served as my mentor. She gave me a whole new perspective of geriatric care and helped me in my research. I thank her for all her encouragement and support.”
Sadhnani was impressed to learn the scope and prestige of SCADA when he arrived at the meeting. Membership to SCADA is lifelong and to be selected to this elite group you must win the ADA/Denstply Student Research Award as part of a student clinician research program at your school.
When asked about his experience at the ADA Annual Session Sadhnani said, “When I won the ADA/Dentsply Award at GSDM, I didn’t know how big a deal it was until I actually got to Vegas. The SCADA Awards Reception saw the best of dentistry–the deans of all dental schools in the U.S. and the prominent personalities of the ADA. I was also excited to see all the recent advancements in materials and technology at the ADA Annual Session and how it would affect my practice of dentistry in the near future. My experience has been wonderful and I have made some good friends (the other SCADA participants) who I shall cherish for a long time.”
Dean Jeffrey W. Hutter added, “Mahesh’s poster was outstanding and he did a wonderful job in representing GSDM as the winner of our ADA/DENTSPLY Student Research Award. I know I speak for all of our GSDM faculty, staff, and students in saying how proud we are of him. I also appreciate the excellent role Dr. Friedman played as Mahesh’s mentor.”
