BUVSDA Concert to Benefit Vietnamese Children in Need

In the middle of classes and exams, members of Boston University’s Vietnamese Student Dental Association are finding time to give back to the community by hosting Dem Uoc Vong, a concert to benefit orphans and children with disabilities who live at Linh Son Temple in Vietnam, from 7 to 11 PM December 9 at the Chevalier Theatre in Medford.
Twelve singers from around the United States will perform pop, country, and Vietnamese music at the event, which will raise money to purchase items such as beds, school supplies, and air conditioners for the more than 30 children for whom the temple cares.
“Any bit of money would go a long way, because even two quarters could buy [a child] a meal,” says BUVSDA member Cindy Tran DMD 10. “That’s how much money American dollars are worth in Vietnam.”
Anhphi Nguyen DMD 07 plans to deliver the donations to the temple this summer. Those who are unable to attend the concert but would like to contribute may contact Anhphi, who will collect donations after the event.
Tickets range from $40 to $65 and are available at the show, with discounts for students and seniors. Sponsors will pay expenses including venue rental and talent, which will allow BUVSDA to donate money from ticket sales directly to the temple.
