Honors & Celebration at AAE Annual Session

Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) Residents and Alumni were a strong presence at the American Association of Endodontists (AAE) Annual Session, held April 17–20, 2013, in Honolulu.
The following GSDM Endodontics residents made presentations at the AAE Annual Session: Mohamed Jamal Ahmed DScD 16; Obadah Attar DScD 13; Mohammed Alshahrani DScD 15; Philippe Gauthier MSD/CAGS 13; Haytham Jaha DScD 15; and Manal Saadoun MSD 14. Also attending were GSDM residents Mona Alsulaiman DScD 13, Grant Hutchens CAGS 13, Jennifer Kim CAGS 14, and Eugenia Yang CAGS 14.
Dr. Philippe Gauthier was one of ten winners of the AAE DENTSPLY 2013 Oral Research Presentation award. Every year, the top ten presentations in three categories are each awarded $1,000.
Also at the AAE Annual Session, Dean Jeffrey W. Hutter recognized Paul Bianchi ENDO 00 for having fulfilled all of the requirements to become a Board Certified specialist in the field of Endodontics by “pinning” on his American Board of Endodontics (ABE) Diplomate pin at the Louis I. Grossman ABA College of Diplomates Breakfast.
To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of GSDM’s founding, Dean and Mrs. Jeffrey W. Hutter together with Dr. and Mrs. Sami Chogle hosted a reception on April 18 of the AAE Annual Session at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Approximately 100 GSDM alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends attended the celebration. Dean Hutter updated the attendees on some of the important and exciting initiatives that are ongoing at the School, thanking them for their support, and closed by saying:
“It is truly an honor and a privilege for me to serve as the Dean of our Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine and I look forward to working with each and every one of you as we go forward in our Fundraising Campaign, and in so doing, realizing together our vision for the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine to be the premier Center of Excellence in Oral Health Education, Research, and Patient Care in the world.”
At the AAE General Assembly on April 19, Director of the Advanced Specialty Education Program in Endodontics Dr. Sami Chogle and Dr. Brian Chuang accepted an award for hosting the 2012 Advanced Programs in Clinical Endodontics Symposium (APICES) meeting at GSDM. APICES was founded in 2003 by then GSDM residents Brian Chuang DMD 02, ENDO 05 and Jessica Barr ENDO 05 as a nonprofit activity dedicated to providing an educational and social environment specifically for endodontic residents. The event is held annually by one of a rotation of host institutions.
Altogether, the 2013 AAE Annual Session was an event full of honors and celebration for Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine.
