Monsters – Green and Other: Plan Your Fun, Stay Safe

We dream of pleasant surprises from the routine that are about to happen this weekend- a national, professional sports championship that will be awarded in our city, along with the annual festiveness that comes with Halloween.

The people of Boston are host to Major League Baseball’s final championship games of the season. The 2013 World Series will be won (and lost) in our backyard. As you plan your evenings, you should know that the Boston Police informed us that a large police presence will be in and around the Fenway Park area and Kenmore Square. We also know that Kenmore Square will be closed to cars, bikes, and pedestrians.

Large public celebrations after a championship-clinching game have become commonplace.  It’s fun to jump around, chant, and sing with others, but you should remain aware of your surroundings. We care about you and urge you to make plans to get home in a safe manner; stay away from people vandalizing property, setting fires, or acting in a way that may harm you; be alert for scammers, thieves, and people who may try to victimize you; don’t overindulge in drinking alcoholic beverages (if you chose to drink); watch your friends and keep an eye out for each other; and, comply with police advisories and request. And, if you prefer to stay inside, there are group-viewing locations within on-campus residences and the George Sherman Union.
