Coffee & Conversation – September 10 – Time for an Old-Fashioned Idea Fry?

flame

I was going to talk about the monster spewing oil into the Gulf. But, nearby, other folks bum rushed the show!

When you’ve got ministers acting like characters from a Ray Bradbury novel, how can you let that pass?

Let’s talk about the imminent, old-fashioned, low-tech book burning. Am I wrong, or did I think we finally outgrew book bonfires? Evolution?  Some say this is actually brilliant free speech and might be the most American message to broadcast? Gangsta? Or, is this just indefensible, low class, and worthy of loosing the America card? And, is the rest of the world just too soft and hypocritical?

What role for the professional broadcasters here? Do you care? Should President O?

Better conversation about fear, anxiety, and anger? What does this say about American identity?

Let’s talk this Friday at from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Howard Thurman Center. I’ll bring the coffee and the cookies, you bring your books, your thoughts, and the conversation. No matches, open flaming, or burning allowed.

Peace.
