A note to families regarding coronavirus concerns
The following was sent to parents and family members of current students on Monday, March 9, 2020. Please note the content on these pages and files is no longer being updated and may be out of date.
Boston University, like many colleges and universities throughout the world, has taken a variety of steps addressing the global spread of COVID-19, the current novel coronavirus.
In an effort to streamline coordinated communications and responses throughout the University, a website has been set up to address the concerns students, faculty, staff and family members have. It is available here and updated regularly.
This site will provide information regarding University-sponsored travel, as well as personal travel, and our Study Abroad programming. In an effort to reduce possible transmission of COVID-19, please be aware that the University is requiring all returning travelers form Level 2 and Level 3 countries to self-quarantine at their permanent residence whenever possible and not return to campus. On that site, we also have provided information about the University’s emergency plan in regards to COVID-19.
We encourage you to keep yourself informed by reviewing this website. Remind your student to do the same. That website, as well as all-University emails to students, will be the main mode of communication regarding the University’s response. Thank you for your continued support of your students during these uncertain times.
Sincerely,
Kenneth Elmore
Associate Provost and Dean of Students
Dr. Judy Platt
Director, Student Health Services
Christy Loring
Associate Director, Parent and Family Programs

Neither my husband nor I did receive this note by email. I saw it when I googled “Boston University coronavirus” to check the latest updates.
All the other universities in the area have closed the school and sent students home. Do the same to ensure our childeren and your staff dont get sick, It will happen and you know it.
It will cost more money to do it in 2-3 weeks so take action now.
Selcen – I am sorry about that. Can you email me at katcorn@bu.edu with your emails so I can make sure they are added to our parent list?
I am a parent of a freshmen but never got any communication from BU.
Several other universities such as Harvard, MIT, and Tufts have have closed and will provide online classes for the month of March. Please do the same to make sure students and staff remain safe in the coming future.
Hi! I am sorry about that. Can you email me what email you want used in the future at katcorn@bu.edu?
