Lionel Wolfe Receives DoD SMART Scholarship
Lionel Wolfe (ENG ’27) receives the Department of Defense (DoD) Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship. Wolfe is currently studying Mechanical Engineering, pursuing his interests in manufacturing and rapid prototyping in part by working as a lab assistant at EPIC. Supported by Lab Manager Tasker Smith and Lab Supervisors Ryan Bakinowski and Caroline Carbo, Wolfe was able to develop the knowledge and experiences needed to connect with the DoD lab. “Without EPIC and the amazing community of lab assistants, front desk associates, and supervisors, I would never have been able to get this amazing opportunity.”
Wolfe will be working in a lab that specializes in rapid prototyping, design for manufacturing, and component design and manufacturing in conjunction with other labs and projects for the DoD.
I am looking forward to expanding my manufacturing knowledge, being able to work on a wide variety of DoD projects. I am thankful for the extraordinary opportunity this award gives me to expand and deepen my knowledge and skills.
