There Lives, the Dearest Freshness Deep Down Things
On October 5th, 2009, Saskia Hamilton, Kieron Winn, and Christopher Ricks joined us at Boston University for a discussion entitled There Lives, the Dearest Freshness Deep Down Things.
Author of As for Dream, Saskia Hamilton is also the editor of The Letters of Robert Lowell. She lives in New York and teaches at Barnard College. Apart from this post as professor, Hamilton has received fellowships from the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Kieron Winn received his education at Tonbridge School, where he would come back to teach for a short time, and at Christ Church, Oxford. Winn received a doctorate for a thesis on Herbert Read and T.S. Eliot from Christ Church. In 2007, he was awarded the University of Oxford’s English Poem on a Sacred Subject Prize.
Our moderator was Christopher Ricks, co-director of the Editorial Institute and the William M. and Sara B. Warren Professor of the Humanities at Boston University. In 2004, Ricks was elected Professor of Poetry at Oxford.
