Europe: East & West Undergraduate Research Symposium at University of Pittsburgh
The Center for Russian and East European Studies (REES), the European Union Center of Excellence/European Studies Center (EUCE/ESC), and the International Business Center (IBC) at the University of Pittsburgh are once again sponsoring the Europe: East and West Undergraduate Research Symposium. The event will be held this year on Friday, March 27, 2015. Modeled after traditional academic conferences, students will present their research papers on Western and Eastern Europe, including Russia, at the symposium to discussants and an audience.
The event is open to undergraduates from all majors and institutions who have written a research paper from a social science, humanities, or business perspective focusing on the study of Eastern, Western, or Central Europe, the European Union, Russia, or other countries of the former Soviet Union.
After the initial submission of papers, selected participants are grouped into panels according to their research topics. The participants then give 10- to 15-minute presentations based on their research to a panel of faculty and graduate students. The presentations are open to the public.
2015 Dates:
- Students submit an application that includes a 250-300 word abstract and a draft of their entire paper by January 20, 2015.
- Selected students notified by February 2015.
- Final revised papers due by March 16, 2015.
