Poetry and Place

A “Eurospectives” reading and discussion, Boston University welcomed Tomaž Šalamun with David Rivard on November 5th, 2009. Viewed as one of the great Central European poets of the postwar period, Tomaž Šalamun is admired by countless American poets for his singular, style of surrealism. Šalamun’s work has been translated into over 12 different languages. He has held positions such as Fulbright Fellow at Columbia University in New York and visiting professor at the Universities of Alabama, Georgia, Massachusetts, and Tennessee.

The moderator for this talk, David Rivard has worked as Poetry Editor at the Harvard Review and authored of Bewitched Playground, Wise Poison and Torque. At the time, Rivard was teaching at the University of New Hampshire MFA in Writing Program.
