May 6th, 2011

The upcoming course offered in Summer I semester, IH752 The Effects of Gender on Men’s Health: a global perspective, explores the evidence for how the male gender role affects men’s health.

To quote course Professor, Deborah Maine: “We know that gender affects women’s health, but what about men? During this compact, 2-credit, evening course, we will explore the powerful connections between gender roles and men’s health, both in the USA and abroad. Some of the topics we will cover include: occupational hazards, risk-taking, self-care, and seeking treatment. The final assignment is a short concept paper asking for funding from the (hypothetical) Men Matter Too Foundation”
