AMOS Health Practicum Description
Objective: Each summer, AMOS provides a three-week, 120-hour Global Health Practicum course that aims to empower a socially-conscious generation of public health workers. Fostering critical analysis of international health development and social theories of power and privilege, the practicum studies current models and methodologies for improving health in low-resource settings.
Practicum Activities: Students examine current models and methodologies for improving health in low-resource settings over three weeks (or 120 hours). This experience teaches students to build on community strengths and facilitate strategic community empowerment to improve health outcomes. The course will introduce participants to community-based primary healthcare practices and provide hands-on training in rural communities.The Global Health Practicum has no language requirement.
