Are you committed to improving access to quality primary health care to under-served communities? Are you interested in increasing the global exchange of best practices related to community health and programs? If so, Initiatives Inc. is seeking a Public Health intern with some background on Community Health Workers and an interest in website design and management to help us distribute information on CHW issues, policies, research and best practices to the global community.
Desired Skills:
• Good writing skills
• A background or interest in Public Health preferred
• Website design and maintenance: knowledge of Drupal, HTML, CSS, PHP and Java
• Experience with social media marketing and communication strategies
• Experience with Google Analytics
• Knowledge of graphic design and video production a plus
Timeframe: September 2014 or earlier. 12-15 hours per week in office.

Scope of Work:
1. Assist in identifying and writing new features for CHW Central
a. Conduct research and literature reviews on topical issues related to Community Health Workers
b. Conduct interviews with key academics and practitioners working on CHW issues and research and projects
c. Assist in setting up webinars on identified topics.
2. Assist with development and implementation of a marketing strategy
a. Manage CHW Central newsletter development and distribution
b. Maintain and enhance our social media presence
c. Help us maximize the site’s visibility through Google Adwords and search engine optimization
d. Monitor, track and report on site usage with Google Analytics
3. Contribute to maintaining the CHW Central website
a. Update what’s new and upcoming events section of the website
b. Find new resources
c. Develop blogs or short updates on CHW practices
d. Research and respond to questions posed by website members
