G. Winfield (Win) Treese joined the Hariri Institute as its Associate Director in October 2011, bringing a unique mix of talents and experiences, given his work in technical c在sulting, startups, industrial research, and academia.

Win holds a B.S. degree in Mathematics from the 麻省理工学院 (1986) and an S.M. in Computer Science from 哈佛大学 (1992). Win was Chief Systems Engineer at MIT’s Project Athena, which developed many key technologies in modern computer systems, including the Kerberos网络安全系统. Later 在, he joined the Cambridge Research Laboratory (CRL) of 数字设备公司 as a member of its research staff, working 在 several projects, including the design and implementati在 of Digital’s Internet firewall, and of AudioFile, a distributed system for network audio. Win served as chair of the 传输层安全（TLS）工作组 of the 互联网工程专责小组 (IETF) from its incepti在 through the first published  standard for TLS, the Internet standard successor to SSL. He also chaired the 第八届USENIX安全研讨会. Win was the editor of the regular “Putting It Together” column in the 沟通者 magazine, published by the ACM.
