City of Boston Announces 2017 Analytics Summer Fellowships

The City of Boston Analytics Team has announced a new 8-week internship program. The Analytics Summer Fellowship will give students the opportunity to work closely with City leadership and staff to improve how Boston uses data every day. As part of the Department of Innovation and Technology, the Citywide Analytics Team uses data to tackle the City’s biggest challenges and make life better for everyone who lives and works in Boston.

The program is available for students in any major (technical or quantitative majors are preferred) and features three categories of fellows:

Data & Performance Fellows work with project managers and stakeholders throughout the City to analyze data, develop visualizations and dashboards, and provide insight to improve policies and processes in all parts of City government.

Data Science Fellows will work with data scientists, engineers, GIS specialists, and others to apply advanced techniques such as predictive modeling, experimental testing, natural language processing, and complex data visualization.

Data Engineering Fellows will work with project managers and external partners to find the right data to address the city’s most challenging problems, then build the infrastructure needed to turn these insights into sustainable solutions.

The application deadline is December 30th, 2016.
