Hariri Institute Announces 2020 Junior Faculty Fellows and Graduate Student Fellows

On Thursday, October 1st, the Hariri Institute introduced the newly appointed Fall 2020 Junior Faculty Fellows and Graduate Student Fellows. The twelve new fellows represent various disciplines from across different Boston University schools and colleges. The Institute is excited to engage with these new fellows as they reach new heights in their research, both here at the Hariri Institute and beyond. The two programs received many competitive nominations, with the cohorts being chosen by the Institute review committees and then approved by the Hariri Institute Steering Committee.

The Junior Faculty Fellow and Graduate Student Fellow programs recognize early-career computing and data-driven researchers and PhD students at BU. The programs aim to support these researcher’s development by connecting them with one another, as well as the Institute at large.

Since 2011, 58 Junior Faculty Fellows across 28 departments and 7 colleges have been awarded, from the fields of social sciences to business. Both programs are committed to supporting and enabling researchers from all programs and colleges at Boston University.

The Institute’s new Junior Faculty Fellows are: Gerdus Benade, Andrey Fradkin, Jonathan Huggins, Emma Lejeune, Elaine Nsoesi, and Chris Wells. The Graduate Student Fellows are: Sheng Huan, Anil Kag, Yunzhe Li, Beverly Setzer, Liang Wang, Hasini Weerathunge, and Si Wu. These fellows represent many different fields of study from the Questrom School of Business, the School of Engineering, the School of Public Health, the College of Communication, and the College of Arts and Sciences.
