Witness for Peace Solidarity Collective New England Regional Organizer, Part-Time (Fall 2020)

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Maintaining, creating and building individual and organizational relationships region-wide with religious and academic institutions, social and political movements, peace and justice groups, and international solidarity organizations

  • Planning and executing a inter-regional Fall speakers tour and regular virtual events/meetings

  • Recruiting for and supporting regional solidarity delegations to Cuba, Colombia and Honduras

  • Participating in and expanding WFPSC through weekly calls, committee work and joint actions

  • Contributing to local and national solidarity coalitions and campaigns related to WFPSC

  • Preparing and disseminating regional fundraising appeals, email blasts and urgent actions

  • Identifying and applying for local and national grants and related funding sources

  • Growing + engaging our regional base through analysis, updates, presentations and campaigns

  • Managing all regional social media content (Facebook, G Suite, website, etc)

  • Keeping financial records and tracking all organizational expenses and incomes

Qualifications

  • Commitment to Witness for Peace Solidarity Collective’s mission and vision

  • In-depth knowledge of historical/contemporary US policies & practices in Latin America

  • Strong understanding of/experience with current Latin American and US social movements

  • Background in community organizing, social justice and/or international solidarity work

  • Fluency/high proficiency in Spanish (written and oral)

  • Bachelor’s degree or working towards one

  • Excellent written, verbal and digital communication

  • Exemplary people, analytical and organizational skills

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented and driven by creative initiative

  • Solid computer, social media and technical skills

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, on committees and in large groups

  • Dependability, flexibility, and ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Willingness to work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Ability to travel regionally, inter-regionally and internationally when air travel resumes

  • Having regular access to a vehicle (fuel reimbursed) is highly recommended—not required

  • Proficiency with Google Suite, Office Suite, Action Network, Canva, Facebook and Wix

Start & End Dates

  • Training begins in August 2020, though there is some flexibility here

  • Absolute minimum commitment through 1/1/21 (though ideally a one-to-two year position)

Time Commitment and Location

  • 10-20 hours per week, though specific days and distribution of hours are flexible

  • We will consider all candidates located in the Northeastern United States

Compensation

  • This position comes with a modest stipend for four months of part-time work (negotiable)

  • The expectation is that you will fundraise for your own position, with support from WFPSC, from thereon out, through resumed programming, delegations, and appeals; if not, it will become an unpaid volunteer position

  • There are currently no health, dental or other benefits offered
