Poetry Reading with Victoria Guerrero Peirano (11.20.20)

Join us for a poetry reading, in Spanish, with  poet, teacher, and feminist activist Victoria Guerrero Peirano. Guerrero’s most recent publications include the essay Y la muerte no tendrá dominio (FCE, 2019) and the poetry book Diario de una costurera proletaria (2019) Her novella Un golpe de dados (novelita sentimental pequeño burguesa) was published in Cusco (2015) and in Tijuana (2014). Her poetry collections include En un mundo de abdicaciones (FCE, 2016); the bilingual chapbook And the Owners of the World No Longer Fear Us (translated by Anna Rosenwong, Cardboard House Press -drone- series, 2016); a duet with the Chilean poet Raúl Zurita, Zurita + Guerrero (2014); and her compilation of poetry, Documentos de Barbarie (poetry 2002–2012) (2013), which won the Premio a la Producción Artística PUCP (ProART) in 2015 and includes her books El mar ese oscuro porvernirYa nadie incendia el mundo, Berlin, and Cuadernos de quimioterapia. Her poems have appeared in various national and international magazines and anthologies and have been translated into German, English, French, Portuguese, and Finnish. She holds a PhD in Literature from Boston University and a Diploma in Gender Studies. She is a professor at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú in Lima, and cares for her dog and cat.

This event will be moderated by Rocío Ferreira, Associate Professor of Latin American Literature, Culture and Cinema and Chair of the Department of Women’s and Gender Studies at DePaul University in Chicago.
