Message from the Dean
Last Friday, BU Today published an overview of the process that the University has undertaken to develop its COVID-19 recovery plan. Subsequently, some news outlets have misrepresented the planning process, suggesting that the University would not be opening until January 2021. This simply isn’t true.
Recovery planning for Boston University is focused on the fall semester and the resumption of on-campus, in-person programs in late August. Plans will incorporate the best public health practices so that members of the entire BU community will feel comfortable and safe upon returning to campus—or upon arrival, for our new students and faculty—for the fall semester.
If for some reason public health authorities do not allow universities to reopen their campuses at that time, we fully intend to resume remote instruction for the fall semester so that our students may remain on track to graduate as planned.
It is unfortunate that misinformation from the media has exacerbated the uncertainty our community is already feeling. Although we still lack answers to many questions about how the landscape may shift over the coming months, there is no question that our students can continue their studies at BU Law in Fall 2020.
